August 24, 2023

Jozi 10s is providing a platform for inclusion, celebration, and charity.

Get your tickets and support this spectacular sporting festival!

All major sports, entertainment, and community events have a chance to do good and grow the spirit of camaraderie, opportunity, and inclusion. Jozi 10s has gone above and beyond to do that, and more, at the first ever Jozi 10s festival taking place on the 25th and 26th of August 2023 at St. Stithians College in Sandton!

In support of Women’s Month and women’s rugby, the Atlas Foundation, a global children’s charity that works towards a better future through rugby communities founded by England World Cup winner and Rugby legend, Jason Leonard, will be bringing eight women’s teams to participate in the Jozi 10s festival.

”The Atlas Foundation works in communities around the world and strives to uplift young people through education and sport.  With a focus on the core values of rugby, all is underpinned with pride and dignity, which truly has the power to change the narrative” Sue Anderson – Atlas SA Trustee

There will also be a competitive netball league for teams to participate in. Both with the aim of continuing the growth and development of women’s sports. With the spirit of community and camaraderie in the air, Jozi 10s will also be making a donation to a charity that focuses on the development of women’s sports.

South African Deaf Rugby at the World Deaf Sevens Championship in Argentina

After the success of their fourth place finish at the recent World Deaf Rugby Sevens Championship in Argentina. South African Deaf Rugby (SADRA) will compete for the first time ever against non-hearing impaired athletes at the Jozi 10s festival. SADRA has also secured entry into other 10’s tournaments throughout the country for the 2023/2024 season. These tournaments will serve as preparation for upcoming international competitions against Zimbabwe in 2023 and Australia, Wales, and England in 2024. Playing in these tournaments will help SADRA continue to raise awareness of deaf rugby in the country and help provide a pathway to national representation for players.

Jozi 10s has earmarked this as more than just a festival of sports, entertainment, and community. It’s a festival that gives a platform to a wider group of society like South African Deaf Rugby, Women’s Rugby, and Charities to participate in and be a part of something bigger than just a sporting festival. The Jozi 10s will be remembered for not only the fun, community, and camaraderie that were enjoyed but also for the opportunity, inclusion, and support of these wider groups of society that don’t always receive the support they need. Grab your tickets and be a part of 10s history at the first ever Jozi 10s festival!

About 10s

10s is the brainchild of rugby legends Bob Skinstad and Robbie Fleck. Founded in 2008 as a rugby-only tournament, the festival has evolved into a multi-sport tournament where fans and players join together to have some fun, form incredible friendships, and celebrate over a couple of cold beverages. What started out as a once a year rugby tournament in Cape Town in 2008 has now grown to five multiple cross-code festivals located throughout South Africa as 10s fever has reached wider areas of the country.
